This 3-day backpacking trip is an alternative to the long trek into Mount Assiniboine. You get amazing views of the backside of Assiniboine and enjoy the beauty of Marvel Pass and Penny’s Peak. Filled with wildflower meadows, small lakes and spectacular landscapes. You will need a high clearance vehicle to get to the trailhead and make sure you surround your vehicle with wire to guard against the porcupines! It was about a 4.5 hour drive off the pavement and about a 3.5 hour hike into our campsite. Penny’s Peak and the great views of the backside of Assiniboine was a short climb from camp. There were 8 small lakes within a 15 minute evening hike from our camp site.
